Read Wise Water Use's Press Release below:
Do you trust these 3 ministers to make project decisions, including to resurrect the Ruataniwha Dam (yes, the promoters of the dam have sought fast-track approval)?
Wise Water Use Hawkes Bay has signed up to support the March for Nature to be held in Aotea Square, Auckland on Saturday 8th June, and invite you to join us and march under our banner.
Â
The March is being coordinated by Greenpeace Aotearoa in coalition with organisations including Forest and Bird, WWF New Zealand and many others! Read more about the march here.
Â
The war against nature by this coalition government is unprecedented, with the Fast-track Approvals Bill now exposing their true agenda – immediate-term profit over the environment and a sustainable future for our future generations. Â
Â
NOW is the time to march peacefully, determinedly, and in numbers to send a strong message to our government that a vote every 3 years does not confer absolute power to decide on major infrastructure projects without any environmental checks and balances.
Â
People Power Works!
Â
We appreciate it’s a haul, and a cost, and a terrible carbon footprint, but this government will doom us all unless we stand together right now - the organisers want everyone to come to Auckland to send a unified message of strength from one well organised march..
Â
If you are able to join us on the march, please reply to contact@wisewateruse.org.nz and we will send out information about coordination in due course.  There may be opportunities to share travel and accommodation costs.
Â
Lastly, thanks to those of you who submitted on the Fast Track Approvals Bill – you can read the WWU submission by opening the link below.
